Ralph E. Pyke, FPSA, PPSA was born and raised in Abilene, Kansas. After receiving a Ph.D. in biochemistry from Kansas State Univ in 1956, he moved to Denton, TX where he taught and did research for NASA and the Defense Dept among other things until retirement in 1985. From then until 2001 he operated a photography studio from his home. In 1958 he married Barbara, another photographer, and they have spent 45 years taking photographs together. They both received their FPSA's together in 1997. Ralph began in PSA mostly concentrating on PJ, and was the chairman of the PJ Division from 1994 until 1998, but now he concentrates more on photo travel and small pictorial prints.
