Bob Griffith, FPSA, EPSA, Verndale, Washington. Bob and his wife Dolores have been Spokane Valley residents for over 50 years. Photography was a hobby all during Bob’s adult life, beginning with family photos, and then travel photos as his work took him to many foreign destinations. In the early 1990’s he began entering PSA Exhibitions. Success at this level of competition demands quality photos and like the chicken and egg story, the need for more good images demanded more photographic trips etc, etc. In the last 15 years Bob and Dolores have made over 35 trips throughout North America and to various parts of the world; from Antarctica to the Artic areas, and all continents in-between. He has been published in several books and magazines, and has won the prestigious Nature Slide of the Year and Wildlife Slide of the year in the Nature Division of the Photographic Society of America (1999 and 2002). Ten years ago he began making 2 projector slide shows of their trips. These have been shown throughout the NW, at national conventions in Toronto and San Diego, Photo Clubs, Council of Camera Clubs, at many schools, Spokane County Fairs, to Civic Groups and assisted living centers. Bob regularly donates photos to the Nature Conservancy, two local National Wildlife Refuges, Washington Fish and Wildlife Departments and charitable organizations. In 2003 he switched to digital photography and began making digital programs. Topics include “Nature-Travel” subjects but also several “How-To” programs on wildlife photography and the use of flash units. He has been active in the Spokane Valley Camera Club for 30 years. |
