April - Reflections

This is an against-the-light-picture taken from the Terrace of Bowes Museum, Barnard Castle, Co. Durham: I was trying to get an atmospheric shot, but I only saw the children looking at their reflections in the lake afterwards. I removed the sky and right side (distracting buses) and lightened the picture (a lot) using Levels. A slight sharpening too. Andrew

Member 2 - Andrew Hersom

I am an Industrial Pharmacist and have been taking photos seriously since 1980, initially with my own wet darkroom, and had a few successes in exhibitions. Unfortunately, my job then really started to interfere with this and I haven't entered anything since 1995 but I continue taking photographs mostly on vacations and weekend breaks. I have a digital compact but most of my serious work is scanned from colour negative prints or slides. I am interested in contemporary & creative photography, travel, people and landscapes. I have been a member of PSA since 1984.
