Title - Old Gas Station

How I did it -

I took this picture yesterday (May 8) in Marche, Arkansas. I thought with all the decay of the building and surroundings, it would make an interesting HDR shot. Using 3 exposures (-2, 0, +2) with my Canon Mark II, I merged them in Photomatix first using the enhancer default preset and saved it, then I merged them again using the "Grunge" preset and saved that image. I then brought both images into Photoshop, layering the Grunge layer on top and using the Layer Blend mode, used the Soft Light reducing the opacity to 75%.( I borrowed this idea from the Webinar we watched but didn't want to purchase the Topaz filter.) I didn't want it looking too surreal. I then used the patch tool to get rid of the electrical line and then the cloning tool to get rid of the house behind the gas pump.

Member Bio

Debbie Kelly - Biography

I work full time for the Arkansas Press Association in Little Rock, Arkansas as the graphic designer and sometimes photographer, but would love to be have my own photography business. I graduated from Lyon College in Batesville, AR with a liberal arts degree (I didn't know what I was doing!) I'm a Coast Guard brat - I was born in Hawaii and have lived all over the US including Adak, Alaska.

I upgraded to a Canon Mark II and then decided to have my Canon Rebel changed to an infrared camera - and I'm having so much fun with it. I also love Photoshop and Nik Software.
