July Title - One on the Bright
Side
How I did it -
This was one of the last images that I shot on
B/W film in my darkroom days a few years ago. I
scanned the 35 mm negative and have revised the
image of the Oak Leaf many times. This is the
present rendering. I like the image as a
horizontal but many folks have requested a
vertical setting.

Nice composition and form. Contrast of
the single leaf is very nice. Detail and sharpness are tack on. I
might add a little vignette to draw the eyes more to the single
leaf. |

Jerry this
is a classic image for me. The bright side up has a pleasing tonal
quality and compo. Since the leaf is near horizontal on the
diagonal, I prefer the horizontal as presented. The subdued
lighting and soft shadows have rendered the leaf with great clarity
and detail. I like the leaf placement and concept. |

Now
considering this is from a negative you have achieved something
special. You have captured some wonderful tones and great detail.
Placement is spot on. This is a great black and white. |

Beautiful monochrome arrangement of oak leaves with one highlighted
leaf in a diagonal composition.
The dark leaves
provide a nice background and in effect a frame.
Good range of tones.
This is a super monochrome
image. |
