I like the way the dust around the riders was done. It separates nicely from the sky. Background. The riders stand out from the rest of the picture; You did a nice job with the grainy blender brush. I notice an extra border around the outside of your frame, but that is ok as you probably wanted it that way. |
| Mindy Leeds | I think this is outstanding. The treatment has a great overall look and I like the framing. I would suggest for greater impact that the men be moved out of center and either to the left or right of center. Other than that, exceptional job. |
| Rhonda Campbell | I've been on cattle and horse drives and Kathy's art shows what it is really like. I like the way she shows the dust. I have to say, getting the face of the cattle and cowboys is a real challenge, seems they are always ahead of you or spread out. Good work. |
| Shawn Schertzer | I like the color and monochrome treatment of the subject as well as the unusual frame. I do wonder what the cowboys are looking at, as their eyes point us away from the cow direction of travel. I like how the hooves of two animals almost protrude from the frame and wonder what would have happened if more of them had escaped. Having worked on a ranch as a kid, I might have given the "fog" a brown, dusty look. |
| Susan Bailey | This is an interesting piece in that the riders are going one way and the cattle the other way. Your treatment truly gives the feeling of dust swirling all around them. My only suggestion would be to move the riders from their center spot but that's more a photo comment. A few of the cattle are 'stepping out' of the frame which is fun and you might try doing a little more with that. The contrast of bold and muted colors keeps me studying this painting. |
| Stephan Funke | This is an interesting theme which world give many opportunities to produce an successfull image or to fail. The result we see here lays somewhere in between. I think it is a gold idea to show the riders and their horses in a more saturated way than the grey mass of the cattle.. But is to difference too big? The heads of the cattle look almost cloned "one for all" with only 2 or 3 holding the head in a position of its own.. I think it is a good idea to let 1 or 2 cows step out = over the board of the picture. But why just a little bit? Here more would have been even better. I did not understand why the bad weather conditions had to be spread all over the shown image including white border and frame. From the composition side it is a pitty that the image is very centralized. I think a more sophisticated composition could give more tension into the imago. (Corel Painter gives help for that) |
