Majic Kingdom Castle

How I did it -

Missing New Year's Eve eventful celebration at the Magic Kingdom, we visited  Disney World 2 days later. This picture of the castle was taken from the side, with the hope of catching less people and a good reflection in the water. However, a clean reflection in the water was prevented by the movements of the ducks at the time. In camera raw, I removed dust spots, and increased clarity and contrast. In PS, I used both Fill Content-Aware, and in some spots, cloning, to remove the people walking on the bridge. The removal was not perfect, but hopefully sufficient to remove some distracting elements in the image. I then used Topaz Spring Green to make the final image more vibrant with spring brightness/colors.

Settings:
Canon 5D II, EF24-105mm @24mm, f/11 @1/80s, ISO 100, around 11:30 am.

COMMENTS:
Richard Pease I love the look of this. You have, to me, captured the essence of Disney World - Snow White's Castle. I might have cropped a bit more from the left as well as tried to capture the entire reflection in the pond, but I like it.
Jessica Manelis
John Beamer
Judy Merson lovely shot of the Magic Kingdom with a beautiful reflection. I think the oversaturated colors work well to give this a fairy tale feeling.
Dorinda Wills Lovely shot of the castle.  I like the gradual S-curve of the waterway, leading us to the castle. It is a shame that the ducks caused a ripple. Too bad they weren’t white swans to enhance your shot! Color adjustments are well done.  Tiny “knitpick”: tone down the curb, lower left and maybe crop up just a tiny bit so the curb is not in the corner of the photo.
Fritz Grupe I like this as a travel photo. It could be on a postcard. The castle is well placed and the color perfect. My only criticism is that it is a picture of a setting that is designed to be attractive so a picture of it is really a picture of someone else’s art.

Tuan Tran - Biography

I took up photography some 4 years ago, after retirement. Having no background in art, I believe that I have to learn both the technical and artistic sides of photography.

My joint photographic activities, with my wife, allowed us to learn and do things together. We joined the free classes given in Vietnamese by the Vietnamese Photographic Society (VNPS) in Northern Virginia in a 3-year program. It has been most enjoyable for us to share the strong interest in photography with others in class, and to join them in field trips around the DC metropolitan area. A trip organized by the group to Yellowstone in 2009 was most memorable.

My current concern is with my ability to keep the electronic data in good shape, as computer hard drives get larger and any hard drive problem will require a lot of time to recover and fix photo data.

As regards photo gear, I use Canon 5D Mark II and 40D, with Canon 24-105mm f/4, Canon 70-200mm f/4, Canon 180mm macro, Canon 85mm f/1.8, Tokina 12-24mm, Sigma 170-500mm; I would love to upgrade and acquire large aperture lenses for shallow depth of field.
