"Yosemite Trees"

May Image

How I did it -

How I did it: I took this at Yosemite in Sept. 2010 with my Nikon D300 and probably my 18-200 Nikon VR zoom at 200mm. It was shot at 1/800 sec. , f8 and ISO 200. If my memory is right—this was a multiple exposure, but can’t remember how many, but it was probably 3. I was experimenting with zooming and multiple exposures for different effects. The trees seemed so ordinary, that I wanted to do something to them. I always appreciate your comments and would like to know if this works for you.

Judy Burr - Biography

Photography has been a passion for many years and was largely the result of my love of travel. I grew up in Wilmington, Delaware where I did my first black and white processing with my father when I was in Junior High School. I remember making contact prints using 5” x 7” trays! I used the family Kodak 616 camera. I didn’t really become seriously involved in photography until I graduated from college—the University of Wisconsin at Madison. I moved to Baltimore and eventually joined the Baltimore Camera Club. Some mentors in the club introduced me to PSA and I have been a member ever since. After my husband I were married, I moved to Kensington, MD. We are the parents of a son and daughter and now have 4 grandchildren.

After moving to Kensington, I found the North Bethesda Camera Club where I now serve as the club PSA rep. I use Nikon equipment and currently shoot with a D200 and a D300 and a variety of lenses. I enjoy all kinds of photography and try to learn new techniques. I am trying to learn how to use a Lensbaby I bought several years ago. I love the effect, but have much learning to do. Often, when I travel, I am on a tour or just don't want to carry a lot of equipment. That is why I love the 18-200 mm VR Nikon zoom; it covers a wide range that is ideal for such travel.

We enjoy traveling by RV and took a trip to the southwest in May and then I was able to take more equipment and use a tripod for many of the photographs. Our son lives in CA so we always try to visit a different part of the state when we go for a visit. This has enabled us to visit some National Parks in the state. We have been to Alaska 4 times and hope to go again. There are many photo ops there!
