Title - The French National Team

How I did it -

In Davie , Florida is a local Velodrome of international quality, it was may luck the day I went there that the French national team had arrived for a practice session.

This particular photo was shot at a shutter speed to freeze the action. Post processing involved removing a pink double rail structure from the wall and cloning in replacement grass and trees. I then created a mask so as to blur the background behind the concrete wall.

COMMENTS:

Lynn Ronan Great capture! It has a very clean background which keeps the focus on the riders. The expression of the lead rider really tells a story. Some might say that the merging of the second rider is a distraction, but in racing, this is really what happens. I think you got a great shot.
Kathy Brand

Good placement of the cyclists in your composition and blurring out the background makes the riders pop out.

Jon Fishback I think this is a very special look at the sport.  The angle is, to me, very dynamic and you have done a nice job post processing.
Benny Baughman Sometimes Lady Luck is on your side. I think the pink double rail would have been a distraction. You did a good job with the trees and grass. The marks on the track add to picture. Capturing the rider’s eyes was great timing.
Alice Meronek

Nice Job.  You need to match the shadow direction and light intensity when compositing photos.   I really like the racers.  Very nice job on bring out the racers and track.

My interest in photography started at the age of 12, when I visited a friend’s basement darkroom, and it continued on through High School and College.
When I married, our first apartment had a darkroom in the living-room, rather than furniture. My interest in photography was put on hold as my career in the furniture industry and my family grew to proportions which curtailed my ability to do anything more than take travel snapshots. As my career shifted to product development and design, coupled with the advent of Digital Photography, it allowed me the luxury of more free time to renew my interest.

My wife, Adrienne and I reside in Florida, where I joined the Boynton Beach Camera Club and enjoy the monthly competitions and the educational seminars.
