Title - Canoes

How I did it -

My wife Rachel of 53 years all of a sudden this year has decided to take up photography.  Now.....I don't know how you would feel about this, but I was greatly excited because now I can go off on safari locally, take her along and not feel guilty.  So, we did take a road trip.  We came across this dock on a Sunday when the rental business was closed and proceeded to take it all in.  I will not show you what  Rachel, did at this location, because it is better than this and she proceeded to get a 24 at camera club competition.

COMMENTS:

Lynn Ronan Good for Rachel! I don’t know what her images look like, but I like this one. I think it is a very nice composition and I like how you placed the subjects so that they fan out from the top. I also think the saturation is good and the shadows add a nice touch to the image.
Kathy Brand

Good news that your wife is joining you into photography.  When it comes to waiting for just the right light or trying to get just the right composition, it helps that both parties are interested.  I like your picture composition, but would give those beautiful colors more contrast.

I’m glad to hear that you are now a “photography family.” You could say either beginner’s luck or that she has watched you all these years and learned that way. Leaving the boats unsaturated tells us that have spent alot of time in the water.  I tried to saturate them and they started to show scratch lines that became a distraction.  Please tell your wife congrats on the 24.

I find that this is an interesting study of shapes and colors.  I like how the shadows create back lines between the canoes.  The yellow one in the middle makes it pop for me.

I like the interplay of the colors, textures, lines, and shapes....nicely seen
