Nice exposure with the right light. The branch at the bottom of the picture gives it bottom weight. |
| Jon Fishback | I think this is a very unusual position for the heron, one that may not garner much enthusiasm from the purist nature people. But what do I know, I like the straight on portrait. |
| Benny Baughman | This is definatly a different view of a heron. Lightening the back was a good idea, with the background also being light in color. Not putting a catchlight in the left eye was a good idea, since the light would not have gotten there. |

Nice job with bringing the bird out of the background and evening out the shadows and highlights. |

| Edwin Roth | Nice bird in mating season plumage...good details especially considering the difficult lighting condition. |

Member 1 - Biography I have been a photography enthusiast for many years and embraced the hobby in my early twenties. Back in the “olden days” of film I spent many hours in the darkroom developing and making prints. I moved to digital early on, first with point and shoots, and about four years ago got a DSLR and lenses. My other hobby and passion is bicycling and I take several bike trips each year - domestic and international. Besides the enjoyment of riding, these trips provide great subject material for photography — I find they are very harmonious hobbies. I have been a member of the Ridgewood Camera Club for two years and just recently joined PSA. Through the camera club and PSA I hope to learn how to improve my work by being exposed to and interacting with a body of talented photographers. I retired from a long career in marketing at Sony Electronics and can now spend more time pursuing my hobbies. Besides photography, I am a part-time student studying literature and art history.
