July Image - Indian Princess

How I did it -

At a Cat Show I purchased these exotic feathers, having in mind a headdress for a portrait. I placed them, as you can see, in a contained of beans. The beans allowed me to arrange them carefully. I cloned the final image you seeing, arranging the elements to my liking. I then took the portrait to Painter and painted her with very small oil brushes. Bringing her back into PS, I made a feather ornament in her hair and added the painted lower garment feathers from a image of an Indian male image.

It is a very skillful blending of elements Claudia.  The way you are able to light the eyes in Painter is wonderful.  The added streaks in the model's hair gives a spot texturing that adds depth.  Love it !!!

Elli Kraizberg  Perfect . It is my opinion that you should use lower opacity to blen the feathers a bit better. Rich portrait with a wonderful choice of harmonic colors (which is always your strength.

Ian Ledgard  This is a fine image, well thought out in the first place and executed with great skill. The result is very convincing and had you not explained how you had achieved it I for one would not have realised that this was a composite. Very well done.

Frank Crommelin  Beautiful image great warm tones. I think a head band would tie the headdress to the model, and maybe toning down the lower garment to help focus on the face that is the main subject the face.

Andrés Canepa  Great job!!, color equilibrium are perfect, you improve the skin tones PERFECT, the hair improvement are great, the gray hair in a young and healthy face make strong the portrait, Bravo!!, an acceptance of course. Difficult make a contribution to improve it. In personal I would attenuate a little the high light in the neck, and in the eyes I decrease a little the saturation or light in the eye’s iris. Congrats!!!.

Claudia Peterson - Biography
I got my first SLR for Christmas in 1998 and showed images at my first camera club in 1999. That was my beginning as a "serious" photographer. As an artist, I had been busy painting and teaching classes in oil painting but turned my brushes in for a camera that year (though I did continue teaching the classes). I now use three Canon Digital cameras; a 20, a 30 and a 40D. My lenses range from a 180 Macro to a 500 F4. Portraits, Stilllifes, and Bird Photography are my loves, with anything of interest in-between. I enjoy working on Creative images from abstractions to wherever my imagination takes me. I am very happy to now be part of Study Group 24.
