Waiting Room Monster

How I did it

On a visit to my  Optician, last November,  I was intrigued to see this strange figure in a plant pot in the Waiting Room.   On my next visit, I took my little Nikon Coolpix P100 with me.  With a little manipulation in photoshop, I  created this monster.   I have attached the original for you to see.

I think it needs a lot more creative work done to it - the colours are not appealing. I think there's scope for further adventures of you monster - perhaps by cutting him/her out and putting into another image.

Susan Davi

As usual, great imagination; I like your little monster hiding in the waiting room to scare everyone. Looking at the original, I think the branches would have made a cool hat.

Frank Foto

Great example of digital manipulation, but I'm not sure that the colors/tones are very appealing. I know you tried to keep the original tones, but they seem rather dull. Did you try to manipulate the colors to add interest?

Jim Mayo

I think she is breast feeding twins.

Chuck McCollom

I like how you saw the creature and then created the final image.

Very interesting, as monsters go! You have a good eye with making something interesting out of nothing particularly pretty. I think it could be more amazing if you used some interesting filters on it in Photoshop and play with the color and saturation.

RICHARD  HARPER,  FRPS,  PPSA,  AFIAP.

Nearing the age of retirement, I became interested in photography and took a College course to increase my  knowledge  and thirst for photographic adventure.
I started by gaining my first joint certificate in Photography of City and Guilds and the Royal Photographic Society of the UK.  Then followed Licentiateship of RPS ,  Associateship and finally,  Fellowship.
My  appetite was whetted and I soon progressed to Artiste of the Federation of international Photography – AFIAP.
I was then introduced to PSA and it’s wider field of International  Salons.  I found  participation  to be very fulfilling and the interaction between  members  has been excellent.  I gained my PPSA under the 10 star route - CPID,4* PTD,3*, EID 2*  and 1*.  I am looking for further advancement under the new ROPA rules to be put in place in July, 2010.

At the end of 2010, under the ROPA revaluations, I was awarded EPSA, which was confirmed in the Summer of 2011 and my Certificate presented after Conference. Also, under the ROPA revaluations, my CPID Star rating was upgraded at the end of 2010, to CPID Galaxy 4.
Subsequently, I applied for and was awarded CPID Galaxy 5, in January 2011.My Photo Travel score is still PT 4*. My Eleectronic Imaging level is now EID3* and my Nature level is now N2*. In fact, I have enough acceptances to apply for my 3rd Nature star, but I have to wait for the arrival of the Indian Nature Circuit Catalogue, which is due sometime in the New Year
Joining the  PSA EID Group  No. 23 has been a pleasure and is strongly recommended. I enjoy  the wonderful  interaction  between  members.
