| Brian Swinyard | Nancy, clearly you have a thing about photographing cars and this is another stunning image in the series. Most of us would have been content with just using the Fractalius Filter but you have taken it a stage further by tweaking the image with Nik Silver Efex Pro. I like the way that your technique has changed the bright red original into a monotone which creates the illusion that black paint has been scratched away on a transparency to reveal the silver underneath. There is no colour confusion in the image which has been reduced to one of monochrome simplicity. I wondered whether the limits of the picture needed to be defined by say a one pixel stroked line to prevent the darker areas of the image bleeding out into the black background. Titles are so important with pictures as it is one of the few ways that we photographers can influence and shape the viewer’s perception of our work. I would offer: Almost Perfect, Cobwebs & Strange, Light & Shade, Greased Lightning, Ghost Rider, Electrically Charged, Into The Unknown, Stealth, Silky Silence. Congratulations and very well done in your image ‘Deco Car’ being awarded The Best of Show (PSA Gold Medal) in the EID Creative Competition for Individuals. This is thoroughly well deserved. |
| Bill Hodges | Another image which has been handled well with the fractalius fliter. Making the image B&W has d interest. I would have like to compare the image with another that has all the headlight in and the round grill vent. But again it’s the way the author has thought that this was the image with interest. |
| Joan Field | Nancy, this is an unusual cropping of a car showing the essentials. The blackness and use of Fractalius lend it a real mystery. It kind of looks like it had been in an accident, especially the fender. I think I would prefer to see more of the bumper instead of having it cut off on the bottom edge, but otherwise a good job. Can't think of another name. |
| Barrie Bieler | A neat bit of seeing and selecting. Suggest a 5% wide medium gray frame around the image to "hold it in" a little better. |
| Rick Perkowski | The detail of the car is extremely well done. I personally would have like to have seen more or even all of the car using the same techniques. On the other hand, seeing all of the car might take away from the abstract nature of this image; I am not sure. Regarding a title, how about “Black Beauty” or “Midnight Car in Georgia”. Very well done. |
