| Brian Swinyard | This is a very poignant image Anne that has been well assembled and is one that has a very powerful message. The sculpture in industrial, steely, grey monochrome sets the scene to which you have added the inverted selection with the Neon Glow treatment. This works very well and provides an excellent contrast which underlines the message on the sculpture. |
| Brian Duchin | At first I didn’t connect the background to the original image of the plant on the far left.. After studying the image I connected the dots. Your changes are sweeping and bring an added dimension to the final photo. |
| Joan Field | Anne, the inclusion of the pit head gear adds greatly to the image. Frankly, I never heard of such a thing. If I were looking at this image without a title and explanation, I would have had no idea what the concept of the background was. However, you have put it together extremely well and I compliment you on that. |
| Barrie Bieler | Beautifully done, Anne. The foreground and background compliment each other very well. The frame on the finished product might be a little less confusing if it were a narrow white band encased by a wider dark gray band; your present frame is a a bit confusing on the left and bottom. |
| Rick Perkowski | What an absolute transformation of the original image with the placement of the background which succeeded in establishing the appropriate environment for the statue! It is an excellent idea to have the background add to the sense of darkness in miners’ lives. Very well done |
| Tim Koverman | I like that you were able to add a background that really makes the picture into a 3-D image. |

Anne Swearman - Biography I have been interested in photography since I was eleven, but did not really spend too much time with it until my children were grown up. I accidentally joined a photographic society, because my 14 year old son was interested. I took him to the local club and said I would stay until he felt integrated. After about 6 months he got more interested in heavy metal music and left, but I stayed becuse I found it interesting. About 3 years later I became club president. When I became a club judge I went for LRPS, because I felt I needed confidence to judge other peoples pictures, and a year later, ARPS. I have been entering Internationals for about 10 years and have EFIAP. |
