Title - Monday Morning Monster (July)

How I did it - Original on left. Was one of the bridges in Oregon that are so beautiful, but my shot of it sure wasn't. I rotated, cropped the image. Then I quadrupled it again like last month's and really enjoyed the way the girders came together to form tunnels leading backwards. I decided to use Flood to break up the symmetry somewhat. The "tooth" formed from the coming together of the elements. I removed the one on top and duplicated the one down below three times to give the look of a monster. The way the waves came together it looked like the liquid was dropping fom his mouth. I changed the background color to black and, using Monday Morning preset in Nik's Color Efex Pro, the monster took on a really depressing color. I then added the "eyes", using a circular gradient.

This composite Joan has clearly been a labour of love and the end result has justified all the effort in its preparation. I like the overall symmetry which has been broken by the use of the Flood Filter. This is one of those images within which you can easily get lost.

Barrie Bieler   Pretty wild, Joan !  The geometry is very effective.  Maybe giving a little blur to the lower 1/3 would further emphasize the upper 2/3.  Instead of a black sky, a threatening dark gray stormy sky might be more effective.
Rick Perkowski   I suspect that a lot of commuters who utilize this bridge every day during rush hours have the same impression of this “Monster”.  The image gives the viewer the impression that the traveler is going to be gobbled up by the bridge. Great color choice.  The “eyes” enhance the monster’s terror.  Very well done.
Anne Swearman

A very creative idea in using the  design of this bridge, It looks rather like a sinister  observant owl. The colours are quite gentle for a scarey image! How about  making the colours brighter and more saturated?  There are loads of other possibilities in Color efex, and you could play for hours!

Nancy Springer Fantastic…I love it!!! Your eye just “zones in” on the monster’s eyes.  Can it be improved?....NO!  It’s great as it is.  I can’t say enough.  While I was quickly going through the images, it caught my attention immediately and then I had to go back and look again!  You’ve done a great job!  Thanks for sharing it.
