December Image: “Peace On Earth”

How I did it -

This is basically a composite of three images. A candle light service, winter trees and the angel.  I selected the angel out and used the other two images as background, desaturated and hand colored the angel.

I just want to wish everyone ane a Merry Christmas.  I love having the opportunity to see so many interesting images throughout the year  and find the critiques very helpful.  Here’s to a happy New Year.

Beautiful Christmas image. You blended the three images well leaving the angel as the prominent part. The angels face could use some sharpening.

I always look forward to seeing your interesting composites and again I am not disappointed. Tastefully done and beautifully presented.

Nancy Sams

Again, I see that I don’t know how to be more creative.  Just how do you blend those two background images into the composite?

Nellie Bretherick

I hope you used this as your Christmas card image.

Norman Piper

Thank you for this image, which reflects the true spirit of Christmas.  All the commercialism which bombards us at this time of year had made me forget what it is all really about.

Karen Mason - Biography

My avocation is photography.  It is both a creative and spiritual outlet which has brought me a great deal of satisfaction over the years.  Most of my photography involves nature.  I am drawn to the earth and photography has taught me to see it in a new way.  Nature is the glory of the Rocky Mountains or the miracle of a nesting bird; it is also the intricate patterns and play of light on sand or rock.  Photography has taken me places and forced me to see more than I would as a passing tourist.  It has also made me keenly aware of how much we have to lose if we do not take care of what is left.  The wetlands filled in and replaced by concrete can never return.
The wonder of the photographic process is the way it takes me away from myself and the before and after.  While I am taking pictures or when I am working on an image in the computer I am in the “now”.  It is not really a thinking process; it is more like being lead down a path and trusting that the end of that path will provide a sense of harmony or wonder.
Of course, sometimes it leads to the delete button. Oh well.
