February Title - Pink Flower Bud

How I did it - My husband, a retired dentist, had an old camera with three close-up lenses with which he took pictures of teeth.  I found this outfit in the back of a closet and tried out the lenses.  The size of the lens fits perfectly in front of my Fuji f80  and  Fuji  f20 cameras; the attached picture was taken with the  f80.   It doesn't attach but I can hold it in place with the camera on a tripod.  This is a picture of one of the buds on a plant - I don't know the name of the plant.  But the open flowers are only 1/2 inch across; this really magnifies them.  I wish something in the image was sharp but I do like the softness of the overall photo. I have included a picture of the whole group of flowers from which this image was taken. It is only one  group of flowers on the plant - there  are about a dozen such groups.  I have had this plant for a number of years and this is the first time it has bloomed.

I have been holding a camera since I was l young girl. I used my mother's Brownie and when I first got married, bought a Kodak Tourist camera. In 1975 I took a photographic course at the local high school; when my first print came up in the developer, I knew I had found "my thing." I bought my first 35mm camera in 1976 when I took a course at the local college.

Soon after, I joined the Schenectady Photographic Society and have been an active member ever since. For the past fourteen years, I have been the editor of the Schenectady Photographic Society's newsletter, the Focus.

I live in a suburb of Albany, New York, the capital of New York State. My husband and I are both retired and most of our traveling now is to visit our three children and two grandchildren in Seattle, Dallas and Connecticut.
