July Image - Day Lily

How I did it -

Here is the original photo that I took July 3, 2008 .  Equipment Nikon D80 Aperture Priority setting of F32.  ISO 800.  I had my ISO set and for got to change it back to ISO 100!  I was amazed how good it turned out set at ISO 800 and even looked very good saved at a 12 x 16 inch by 300 dpi still very sharp!  Used a "Pro master 70-300 lens set at 250 and also used a tripod and a wireless shutter release!  This "Day Lily" was taken in front of our home!    I had the camera set on "High JPG Quality" and the software that I used to do the editing was Photoshop CS.  I did some fine tuning using levels and curves and then I used "shadows & highlight" and did some minor adjustments and increase the color saturation.  I also decided to "reverse" the image to give it a much better composition!  And I darkened the corners to help draw your eyes to the main subject.  Then I went to image size and size to 11.3 width by 16.88 height and 300 Res. and "saved as" and renamed and saved in my "Flower Folder" and then I went to File and "Save As" and saved with the same name and added copy after the name and changed the size to about "7 inch x 10.451 and 72 res.

Roy Cordingley - Biography

I'm retired from the Army "Vietnam Veteran 2 purple hearts 1968-69.  My love and appreciation for "photography" started when I was very young.  My dad enjoyed taking us boys fishing & camping.  I had 2 younger and 3 older brothers and 1 sister the oldest.  My dad would take lots of slides of our family fishing and camping trips and dad would enjoy showing the slide shows and it made great family entertainment and I got a great appreciation for cameras!  I got married in 1973 and this marriage only lasted a few years and I was single for many years.  In 1989 I joined the (Boise Camera Club) and I've been active in the club ever since and also Joined the PSA about 12 years or may be longer and I'm active in two print portfolio study groups ( CP8 & GNWR ) and I'm the "administrator" for the GNWR portfolio group.  I did 3 or 4 years of darkroom printing.  In 2003 I purchased my first digital camera and I believe it was the first one in the Boise Camera Club a "Minolta Dimage 7Hi" and it cost $900.00 and had built in memory and you could add memory cards like you can to the digital cameras now!  After I wasted my money on that one I purchased the Nikon D70 for about the same amount of money and wow what an up-grade that was and now I up-graded one more time I use the Nikon D80.  And photographers are never satisfied and now I want the Nikon D300.  And for editing software I use Photoshop CS & Photoshop Elements 6.

And one more important thing I'd like to share I'm no longer single I have a beautiful wife and best friend "Barbie"!  And in a few days March 12, 2008 will be our 3rd Anniversary.  I can't afford to travel out of Idaho very much so most of my photography is in the beautiful state of Idaho and how love the outdoors!
