Arches

How I did it

Arches...what to do, what to do? Nothing is coming to me on this one. So here's what I did.

I adjusted Levels just a smidge, because at this point I wasn't sure what I was doing. Then I adjusted Hue and Saturation, making the rocks more like red rocks. Still nothing was coming to me. I added a background called Difference Maker. Well, it sure did make a difference, so I went with it. I went through the layer drop down list and chose Pin Light. I squared the photo , added a brightness layer and adjust the brightness and contrast. Then it came to me. After viewing the fireworks tonight, I felt compelled to do something 4th of Julyish. So I added some fireworks. I'm not sure it's still Arches, but I like what I got.

Member Bio

I am a secretary at a small University in PA and have been married to my husband, Dick, for 45 years. I use a Micron PC with Windows XP, a MacBook Pro running Leopard, an HP printer/scanner C7180.  I shoot only in digital using my Nikon D60 with an AF-S Nikkor 18-55 mm, An AF-S Nikkor 55-200mm.  Having used Paint Shop Pro for years and iPhoto on the Mac, I am now learning Photoshop Elements.  I love travel and nature photography and working in photo software

I purchased my first Nikon F camera back in the 70’s and began a journey into understanding photography.  Then came the age of point and shoots and grandchildren and the convenience of having a camera on me at all times outweighed the quality of a print from an SLR.  Not using my photography skills all those years has allowed me to forget much of what I worked so hard to learn.  So now I’m starting at the beginning again.  I have a new Nikon 60 and am struggling with getting enough time to get out there and use it.  My goal with my PSA membership is to learn from all the wonderful seasoned pros who take the time to post their work for people like me to profit from.  Thanks to y’all for being there for us.
