PHOTO FOR JANUARY 2012 --

How I did it -

Conception : The contrast between the moving water and fixed lady
In Photoshop,
(1) Duplicate the background layer
(2) Clone the background to remove unwanted stuff
(3) Create a "misty layer" by using  "Alien Skin Xenoflex" plug-in
(4) Adjust the opacity of "misty layer" to 50%
(5) Using layer mask to make the lower part of picture looks clear, especially the waterflow
Increase the color saturation of the overall picture

COMMENTS:

The lady on the rocks allows me to sense the size of them and such reminds me a classical fashion shot.

A unique image created by the contrast of the sharp figure in her bright colors and the misty, flowing effect of the water.

Again, technically very good, as we expect. I like the mooted colour and atmosphere that you have created. The misty effect and the top of the image work very well. Personally, the lady looks a little too clear and sharp and seems to have been added. I think that the overall image is strong enough not to require her as the focal point, although I appreciate that that was what you were after showing.

Love the silky effect on the water which is enhanced by the lady sitting on the rocks (and she didn’t even get wet!)  Very nice lighting overall.  Thanks for sharing the plug-in information.

Member Bio

I was born and working in Hong Kong. Sometimes, I will visit mainland China for business travel or taking photos. Although I have my first digital SRL in end 2005, however, I only take photos aggressively in the second half of 2010. In order to improve my technical level and exchange more idea with the other professional photographers, I started my PSA membership in Oct 2010. Regarding to my variety of interests in photography, I hope to find more creative technique and idea in future.
