Car Race

How I did it -

The image was first cropped. I next used Levels and Curve to adjust the tones and Nik Software's Color Efex Pro 3 > Brilliance and Warmth filter to give the image a "brighter" look. I then used the Pen tool in Photoshop to select the two cars and when selected they were cut to a new layer. The cars were sharpened using Nik Sharpener Pro. To create the effect of panning with the camera to show motion, the background was blurred using the Blur >Motion filter. Each wheel of the cars were copied to a new layer, 1 wheel per layer and each was blurred using the Blur > Radial > Spin filter. The trick here is to move the position in the filter dialog box to match the position of each wheel.

Karen Leonard Nice. A clear improvement over the original, great technique.

Carol McCreary Your panning effect was achieved....  Do they ever have white walled tires on race cars ??  The blur on each wheel would be more effective with a white wall.  The  blur on the sign is distracting.. Good job.
Pete Nicholls I like the crop with the exception of that above the signs, nothing above the signs adds to the image in my view. I like the sharpness of the cars and the blurred background. I can't tell that you blurred the wheels at this resolution. Saturation and contrast look good.
William Thompson   What would we do without NIK filters? Lots of work, but a perfect result.
Minnie Travis The rest of us that used the blur forgot about the radial blur on the wheels.  On a larger image this becomes very important.  Thanks for drawing my attention to it.  Color, saturation and sharpening all look good.
