July Title - "Pine Tree Trio"

How I did it -

The original image (located in the middle) was shot at DuPuis State Forest in Florida under a full moon.  Camera was on a tripod, and ISO 400 slide film was used.  I think this was about a 2 ˝ minute exposure because the stars didn’t start to “trail” yet.

The canvas size was increased by 5 inches on both sides and the original moved into the 2 side spaces and treated as follows:

Image on Right side:

Artistic>Poster Edges:  Edge Thickness – 2;  Edge Intensity – 1;  Posterization – 1.  This setting was applied twice to the image.

Image on Left side:

Artistic>Plastic Wrap:  Highlight strength – 15;  Detail – 9;  Smoothness – 7.

COMMENTS:

Carole Kropscot The original is unique-looking in its shapes and coloring. Then adding an edited version on either side has created even more special interest. I have seen this multiple image presentation before, but done with different colors instead of effects. I like your choices.
Jenny Gu Good title of "Pine Tree Trio" and very nice techniques.  It opens my view on using Photoshop.  So many artistic effect could be created using Photoshop.  The color gives me the feeling of very quiet full moon night.  I love these photos.
David Price Nice triptych. The original is perfectly exposed, and the treatments either side combine to make an interesting result. Maybe you could have cloned out the bright star bottom right in all three images as it draws the eye and is distracting from the overall display.
Ruth Rittichier I love your original just as it is. Wouldn't change a
thing. There's the smoothness of the moon, juxtaposed against the jagged branches, plus the simplicity but hidden complexity of the whole thing. Sometimes less is more.
Walter Ross
This is a super mural depicting night.  I like the way you added the straight image in the middle. The white border really adds to the impact of the total image.
Joann Greene I love how you took this differently then we all did and made it into a collage. The stars in this picture add to it, and I am glad that you were able to get them in the background.

Barbara Kuebler - Biography

As a child I had a Brownie box camera, and loved taking pictures from day one! I grew up in Lead, South Dakota; graduated from Grinnell College in Iowa; met my husband in Chicago, and moved with him back to his home town of Lake Worth Florida. We have been in Jupiter, Florida since 1975. We spend five months each summer in a house in the woods near Bigfork, Montana.

I still am a 35mm shooter all Nikon equipment with lens from 20mm up to 500mm. I originally started out as a nature photographer, but now shoot everything! We love to travel, and since I have been working with Adobe, I see all sorts of new possibilities when taking pictures. I have an older Sony Mavica digital camera that I sometimes use, but prefer to put my slide images in Photoshop and work with them there. I look forward to seeing your images and sharing photography with all of you.
