July - Lily Abstract

How I did it -

I took this last week in my friend's garden. It was stifling hot and the mosquitoes were biting. Needless to say I didn't stay photographing for long. I found this pretty lily and took quite a few shots of it. I cropped to take away certain elements I didn't think did anything for it. I went into Nik Color Efex and chose, Vignette, with transition at 100% and opacity at 90%. After went into Topaz Simplify and buzzed along with ink outlines. Smart sharpen at 50%. (PS5) Finished with border. Stay cool everyone.

COMMENTS:

Betty Billingham Topaz has certainly found a place in your heart. So much so that I have myself succumbed to obtaining it even though I try to make most of my images from Photoshop. The simplify, I find, has to be used with great care. Unfortunately this is just a little too abstract for my taste. Perhaps a darker vignette might help concentrate the eye.
Bob Feinberg Nice image Leoni. I like the color saturation and the black lines, very abstract. I think I would have tried darkening the upper right side of the image slightly. Nice triple border too.
Mark Southard The artistic look and colors are very inviting but I can t see the composition  here. .
Paula Davies This is absolutely beautiful. I thought at first the effect had been achieved using Painter. Topaz Simplify can give some great effects but I haven't seen anything like this before. The addition of ink outlines is a great idea. I'll be out in the garden when I finish these comments to see if any of my lilies are worth photographing.
Sam Shaw Very nice image. I like the painterly look and the softness of the flower. The ink outlines make the edges stand out.
Witta Priester Don't know what to say here, as my favorite part is the border. It is of course a matter of taste, but I don't feel that the effects have added anything to what was likely a lovely base image.
