April - Cemetry Tree

How I did it -

This was a routine image of trees in the Lexington Cemetery. I thought I would try to salvage it by getting creative. I made a radical crop, then used Spot healing, followed by the usual other Photoshop work. I then used Corel Painter Essentials to get an image I refined in Topaz Labs Star Effects Jewelry Sparkle . ..

COMMENTS:

Angelo Meini .The image is balanced. The colors are harmonious. Resembles the pictures of "macchiaioli". Beautiful.
Anne Davey ..
Betty Billingham .A colourful painting of the lovely spring blossoms. Wish we had such a lovely blue sky here instead of our eternal dull gray!
Bob Feinberg .Very nice Bill. I really like the starburst effect. Nice colors although the sky is a bit to cyan for me. The painting effect causes some loss of detail for sure. Is it possible to tone down the effect a bit so you don't have to tell us they are trees? .
Kathy Potter .Your image is quite interesting, I see what you were trying to do by adding the star effect. What a unique approach..
Mark Southard .You certainly have created a piece of art here. Looks quite artistic but not sure if the stars (sparkles) add or not .

Member's Biography
Bill Thompson

I have been a PSA member since the mid 1950s, with several interruptions down through the years. I still compete at S4C by a friend , Seymour Novins, entering images for me. Unfortunately there is very little PSA activity in Kentucky, I am the Region 3 director for Kentucky.
About 12 years ago I converted over to all digital. I sold my darkroom, and my film cameras except for a few collector ones.

Currently I use a Nikon D200 with a 12-24mm f4 Tokina, a 24-120mm f3.5-5.6 VR Nikor, a 70-200mm f2.8 VR Nikor, a 105mm f2.8 Micro Nikor, and several other older lenses in Nikon mounts. Over the years I have accumulated a full range of Nikon accessaries.
The digital end is handled with an Apple 24" 2.8 GHz iMac, running OSX 10.6.6. I have a Nikon Koolscan IV film scanner, an Epson V 300 flat bed scanner, an Epson 2880 printer, a Wacom Intuos 2 6X8 tablet, a Western Digital 1 TB Studio external drive, and various other minor digital devices. I use Adobe CS5 for image manipulation, and I also use Corel Painter Essentials 4.m
