| Mindy Leeds | The conversion to black and white is done quite well. To my eye, the lamppost makes this a more dramatic picture as it sets off the building and reflection. Good eye. |
| Mark Southard | Sharp, graphic image. The lamp post adds a nice point of interest.... |
| Snehendu Kar | Use of monochrome effectively focuses our attention on the geometric pattern that is the strength of your image. Inclusion of the street light near a crush-point strengthens the image --- it's interesting to see how "distorted" window reflections make the image. |
| Claire Riemer | I am a big fan of modern architecture and reflections and I think this one is done very well. Color would have distracted from the intersecting lines, so I'm glad you chose to display the black and white version for us. |
| Allan Fleischer | Good conversion of color to B/W. I would have moved the reflection line a little to the right and also made it perpendicular to the bottom of the image. |
| Sukumar | Works very well. One could spend a long time looking at this image as each panel is a different abstract. Well seen. Not sure about the street lamp being cut off "at its knees." |

I was born and brought up in Scotland in the Tayside area but moved to north-east England to work as an architect living in both Newcastle-upon Tyne and Alnwick in Northumberland where I remained until moving to near Inverness in Scotland in March 2001. Married to Lynda, who is also interested in photography, we are enjoying early retirement in a very scenic part of Scotland. We have four Shetland Sheepdogs and two cats. Whilst living in Northumberland I was an active member of Alnwick and District Camera Club being committee member, chairman and competition secretary (positions also held by Lynda at various times). We are still members there and I have been submitting club competition entries by post with continuing success. I am an Associate of the Royal Photographic Society, a member of Scottish Photographers and have three crowns with British Photographic Exhibitions as well as three stars in PSA's colour slide division. Although my photographic interest started when I was at school, it wasn't until I became involved in club photography in 1985 that I took an interest in competitions and exhibitions having had a fair amount of success in both since then. My club photography started with colour slides and continued with monochrome darkroom printing which hadn't been done since school days. Darkroom work has been abandoned at present since I do not have a darkroom at present but I continue printing in monochrome and colour in the digital lightroom. Most of my photographs whether digital or not are simple in composition and construction as long as they produce an acceptable result with which I am happy. |
| Camera equipment used is my early 1980's Olympus OM system and a later Canon EOS system which Lynda also shares. My computer has a 80 + 120GB hard disks and 512MB DDR memory. I use Paint Shop Pro and Photoshop and output is to an Epson Stylus 1290S printer. I scan slides and negatives using a Minolta Dimage Scan Dual III scanner. I have recently been using a Canon Powershot G3 digital camera and a Canon 300D SLR body with my Canon lenses.
