Title - Provincetown Lighthouse

How I did it -

This was daytime image that was darkened and a vignette added. The light was there but I brightened it somewhat.

COMMENTS:
Kenneth Deitcher, MD, FPSA Interesting Lighthouse but I am distracted by the obvious halo around the building. The drop shadow is very nice.
Barbara Mallon I like the concept. It feels tipped to me but when I lined it up with the dead pixel lines on my screen it seemed straight. I would have preferred a rendition with less grain and vignetting

Tony Tam

I think this photo wants tell us it is at night, but I can see this light house photo was taken not at night or evening. I think need to work out in PS not only darkness, also adjust the color tone to make it more like at night. Also I would remove the halo around the light house and on other place.
Carolyn Schlueter Your composition is good and it's a lovely image with a beautiful sky and clouds, but for me it would have been much more effective if you had just vignetted around the edges and not darkened the entire picture as you've covered up the beautiful background. Would also do a revised crop or Transformation so the lighthouse is perfectly straight and also tone down the brightness of the light in the lighthouse. The setting is beautiful!
Adrienne Bergen Pretty image. Not sure why you chose to add the vignette, I would have like to see more of the true colors of the beautiful sky and clouds. On my monitor there appears to be some type of smudging along both sides of the light house. The light was on during the day?
Tom McCreary Nice effect to darken the image to make it look like night time. However, the glow around the lighthouse is distracting to me.

Member Bio
Elaine Icklan - Biography

I live in Manchester, NJ with my husband, Tom, who is an avid amateur photographer. We have two children, Ken and Karen, who also enjoy taking pictures. I first started taking pictures when Tom and I went to the Galapagos a few years ago. Being able to photograph creatures with my Nikon at such close range was amazing. I really enjoy nature and macro work. Since retiring four years ago from teaching I have had more time to pursue my hobby, which now includes digital imaging. A Canon S40 was my first digital camera, but after using it for some time I wanted something that offered more features. I now own a Nikon Coolpix 5700, which I am very pleased with. Participating in a DI group will give me an opportunity to improve my skills in photography and Photoshop.
