| John Hackett | I like the technique it suits the subject. The colour of the border complements the flowers. I do feel that the black border could be a little wider as the one petal is a bit close to the edge. |
| Candy Childrey | This is a lovely image. The orchids form the needed diagonal to lead your eye through and out of the frame. The frame adds a nice touch that gives the image the finishing that it needs. I would have probably cloned out the background flowers and darkened the background to make them stand out even more. Good job. |
| Richard Perkins | This is quite lovely indeed. I rather like the existential feel on an image coming out of its framing. The flowers themselves are very well handled. As long as one is “playing,” one could surely consider painting out the softer flowers in the background and leaving just the sharply-represented white ones; that would also allow for moving them a bit to the right, filling the frame more fully and evenly. Just a thought. Nice job! |
| Maureen Bloesch | 3D orchids has a nice flow and a good layout. However, I would have liked a pink border that had a deeper pink, that is in one of the orchids |
| Bill Costello | This picture reached out and grabbed my eyes when I opened it. I like the two flowers coming out of the picture having the same focus and context as the larger ones in the picture. The color choice of the border and frame really set the picture off well in my mind. Perhaps being of a technology bent, I would like to see the picture with the black frame the same size on all sides, but maybe the choice you made is part of the design that makes for such a striking picture. |

Pontious Photography has been my favorite hobby for many years, ever since I bought my Minolta X-700 about 25 years ago. Now that I've finally gone digital, that Minolta has a place of honor on the mantle. Recently I purchased a macro lens and am anxious to put it to use. Because I still have children at home, it is often difficult for me to find the time to devote to my hobby, but if I cannot be out taking pictures, I thoroughly enjoy seeing other people's work and learning from their expertise. I live in St. Louis, Missouri with my husband, Larry and no longer work outside the home. We have three children, one of whom now resides in Manhattan as he attends graduate school at NYU. The other two remain at home and keep us very busy. Aside from photography, my other hobbies include cooking, reading, gardening and occasionally writing a bit of poetry. |
