January Title - Sanctuary

How I did it -Taken from an elevated site in rural Maui, Hawaii, this image to me represents retreat, solitude, and a safe hideout from a chaotic world. Maybe some fixing up will be required. Image reduced from a 12x18, so it suffers some loss of detail.

COMMENTS:
John Hackett You do indeed get the feeling of sanctuary. Very simple but effective.

  George Lovelace

The image clearly conveys the message you intended. This is a great composition.

Maureen Bloesch Lovely photo-very relaxing. Like the whitecaps for additional interest.

  Cheryl Spears

Nice retreat, over sharpened for my taste

Member Bio
Richard Perkins
I've been a semi-professional photographer for about 15 years and an enthusiast since childhood. My main interest is nature and outdoor, with no people unless required for scale. My work took a big leap forward in 1992 when I joined the Nevada Camera Club in Las Vegas, a group of incredibly talented amateur and professional image makers. Working with and learning from them, I was Nevada Photographer of the Year in 1997, just as I moved to Southern California and joined two camera clubs and the Southern California Council of Camera Clubs (S4C). Also, in 1994, I joined NANPA (North American Nature Photography Association), and served on their Board of Directors, 2001-2004. I led two annual Summit meetings with NANPA, 1997 in Corpus Christi, and 2001 in Las Vegas.

A practicing physician, I now live in Fort Myers, Florida, having moved here from Pennsylvania where I lived and worked for 2 1/2 years. I had previously lived on the east coast of Florida and  I briefly served as chairman of Everglades PSA Chapter before my move. I have lived in many places, from Maine to Hawaii, and love to travel. My work has been kind to me in allowing that.
