Title - Feeding Time
How I did it -A hummingbird built her nest outside of my kitchen window. With my tripod set up, I captured the raising of two hummingbirds. It was a wonderful experience for me and I learned something about hummingbird behavior. This image was made the day before the larger of the two left the nest. The image was shot with a zoom lens set at 400mm. The image was cropped and sharpened.

Barbara Miller Minnie this is a wonderful image and needs no manipulation, alternation or Photoshopping. It stands alone as a wonder of nature. I am filled with envy at your having the op. to take this photograph. Have to share my experience with a hummer's nest. Years ago when I had a girl scout troop a theme we used in the fall was nature and one girl brought in a hummer nest that was, amazing to us all, the size of a thimble!
Milan Sedio Lou and I see humming birds rather often, but usually only during the period when some of our flowers are blooming. I have never seen a humming bird nest. Do they have more than one offspring? I like the ambience provided. The nest seems small and rather open., I didn’t expect that. The birds are well placed, The brighter background and shadowed birds reduces the detail in the back and wings of the parent. The act of feeding gives good interest. Well done!

T W Woodruff You sure captured the moment. Great bird shot. I think I might add just a bit more contrast. I just got a Downy woodpecker feeding his chick which I may use next month. Great image.
John Yurchak Very good photo. The action of the 2 birds make this photo. B/G is still too bright needs to be toned down. I might have cropped some off of the right side with the empy space there.
Nick Muskovac This is a very nice Nature image; I am sure you had a very nice experience watching the birds. I tried to attract hummingbirds into my front yard with no success. I do have a butterfly garden with milkweed plants and monarch caterpillars.

Minnie Travis - Biography

In 1986 I became interested in photography. After retiring from teaching high school math in 1994, I joined the local camera club and began to learn more about photography. In 2000 I bought my first computer, scanner and printer which enabled me to control my images from film to print. I began experimenting with digital cameras in 2003 and now shoot only digital with a Nikon Coolpix5700 and Nikon D70. I prepare my images in Photoshop. At present I belong to two camera clubs, one in Texas and the other in New Mexico. Another hobby, travel, gives me lots of photo opportunities.
