Title: Row of boats

How I did it:
This photo was taken on a dull, cloudy day in Kings Canyon National Park in California. This row of boats taken out of the water for the winter caught my eye. The shot was taken at ISO 400, 1/400 sec, f/8 with -0.7 step exposure compensation. In Lightroom, I have cropped to make it a panorama, increased the green and yellow saturation to bring out the color on the boats and sharpened it a little. I have also used dust spot removal to remove a lighter patch in the top 1/3 of the image which was distracting.

Comments
Maria Korab-Laskowska To me this is an interesting image. I like very much composition and tones. Postprocessing looks fine to me. Just for fun I flip horizontally the image and my eyes walk more comfortable trough the frame.
Tom Icklan The major strengths of this image are composition and tone. The unusual subject matter is interesting and well presented. I would watch the edges next time and, as in this case, would include all of the boats on the left and would not clip the corner on the right. Overall this is well seen and captured.
Mark Greenberg I really like the pano presentation of this very good image. The various alignment of the boats adds a dynamic sense as does the slight blurred motion of the water. The diagonal line of the front grass also keeps the image from appearing static. Very good capture and processing.

Debra Thompson
biography

My interest in photography started when I was given my first film SLR camera in primary school. My initial inspiration came from my mum's artistic photographic compositions, my grandparents slides of exotic overseas places and the Ansel Adams books on my nanna's coffee table! Since then, my love of photography has flourished along with my passion for travel and nature. I now find myself away from home once again, having moved to New Mexico from Australia in 2011. I plan to travel as much as possible in the USA and photograph my journey along the way. Since having a baby in June 2010, I have been a stay at home mum. Needing an outlet for my creativity, I have been devoting much of my precious free time to developing my photography skills further. Also, with a new baby I have been aiming to develop my skills in portrait photography to capture my little boy as he grows. I have been doing a 365 project (http://365project.org/missdeb/365) since November 2010 which has encouraged me to try many different things and introduced me to the work of many other fabulous photographers. I hope my participation in this group will challenge and inspire me, build my knowledge and skills and ultimately help bring the beautiful images in my head to reality.
